FMQ's

Thought for something completely different I'd post about FMQ's. I felt today was Wendy's strongest thus far, felt Annabel nailed Salmond on the issue of local income tax - as did David McLetchie at the end of FMQs - and I felt Nicol was good and straight to the point. This was definitely the worst performance thus far from the First Minister as he failed to answer a single question.

I would agree with everything you said. This is the first major mis-step the SNP have taken.

The cynic in me thinks that they know it won't be passed but if put to the vote early enough it won't be an issue come the next election.

I have to say the perceived wisdom is slightly different to that less than unbiased assessment:

However, it does seem (even from me who isn't a supporter of LIT) that Salmond's heart isn't in it. There are far too many obstacles to go through to implement (even though LIT is far superior and more equitable than the dreadful Tory inspired Council Tax).

Some of the opposition's arguments against LIT have been a bit inconsistent. It penalises the rich.........It means that low to average income households will be subsidising the rich. Which is it? No-one seems to know.

Atlantic exposure,

If fairness, Alex Salmonds claim that all rich people tend to have more than one house when arguing about dividents was quite strange also. He was caught out today, good and proper.
