For those of you that read my blog and know me personally will testify, one of my favourite things in life is to sit relaxing, drinking coffee whilst reading the economist and just today I stumbled across this fine piece.
The piece praises the way the Scottish Conservatives have performed in the budget, heck, most publications have and many will find no interest in the piece. That is until the author becomes clear as the piece is written by none other than Peter Jones the husband of Midlothian Labour MSP Rhona Brankin who describes Wendy as being "unable to oppose the SNP effectively"....

Isn't it Johnny Grimmond who covers Scotland for the Economist these days?
Oh, is it?
It certainly used to be Peter Jones, but Johnny Grimmond has written a few controversial articles over the past 2 years (he was responsible for their notorious 'Lament for Scotland' feature, for which he got barbequeued on Newsnight Scotland, as well as 2 risibly hackneyed pieces on Scotland in 'The World In' 2006 & 2007).
As far as I was aware, anything from Scotland, unless otherwise headed, was now his handiwork.
I'm not a conservative voter (though in an idependent Scotland i probably would be) but i have to say, Derek Brownlee gave the best speech in parliament i've heard all year. Thank you for that derek!
